How it works

How courses run with us

  1. Tell us where you are: never dived, certified years ago, or ready for the next level
  2. We confirm the course, the agency and the dates, and send the theory so you can start at home
  3. Days in the pool and on the reef, always in small groups
  4. Certified, with the reefs and cenotes of the Riviera Maya waiting

Why here

Why learn to dive in Playa del Carmen

  • The water: 26 to 29°C, calm mornings and easy shallow reefs ten minutes from the beach, so training dives are real dives with turtles and rays
  • The price: 9,000 MXN all in for Open Water, Advanced or Rescue, well below North America and Europe
  • The time: three days fits inside any week, and the theory can be done at home before you fly
  • What comes next: two tank reef mornings, nine guided cenote routes, Cozumel and, in winter, the bull sharks, all from the same small centre
  • The instructor: Humann Pour-Heidari, instructor and cave diver, teaches every course himself in English, German or Spanish

After your course, the same small groups take you to the reefs, the cenotes and the bull sharks; everything we offer is on our page about scuba diving in Playa del Carmen.

★★★★★

“We went diving with Humann in February on a recommendation. We did two dives with him at Dos Ojos, and it was fantastic. Communication was quick and easy, everything went smoothly, and you could tell Humann knew what he was doing.”

Good to know

Before you book a course

The questions divers ask us most, answered plainly. Everything else is one WhatsApp message away.

  • Which diving course should I start with?

If you are not certified, the Open Water course. If you already have Open Water, the next step is Advanced Open Water. If you want confidence and safety skills, Rescue Diver is the course divers rate highest.

  • How long do the courses take?

Open Water, Advanced and Rescue each take three consecutive days. Divemaster is planned around your dates and dive count.

  • What is included in the course price?

Theory, pool sessions, the open water dives, rental equipment and the certification fee for Open Water, Advanced and Rescue. Divemaster includes the training and the certification fee; its learning materials are bought separately. Nothing is added later.

  • Do I need my own equipment?

No. Full rental equipment is included in the three recreational courses. If you have your own mask, snorkel or fins you are welcome to use them.

  • Is there a minimum age?

Ten for the junior Open Water certification, twelve for Advanced and Rescue, eighteen for Divemaster.

  • Do I need a medical certificate?

Everyone completes a medical questionnaire. Some conditions need a doctor’s sign off, and Divemaster candidates need a doctor signed certificate within 12 months. Ask us in advance if you are unsure.

  • Can I take a course if I have not dived in a long time?

Yes. If it has been a while, we usually start with a refresher or a reef morning so you feel comfortable before the course dives.

  • What language are the courses taught in?

English, German or Spanish, all by Humann. Tell us your preference when you book.

  • PADI or SDI?

We teach both. The skills and the worldwide recognition are the same; we confirm the agency with you before you book, and match the one you plan to continue with at home.

  • How do I book a course?

Send your dates and your current level through the quick booking form or on WhatsApp. We confirm availability, recommend the right course and lock in the dates.
