Course Questions Answered

Everything you need to know before you book, from prerequisites and safety requirements to what’s included and how training works in Playa del Carmen.

Which diving course should I start with?

If you are not certified, the best place to start is the Open Water course. If you already have Open Water, the next step is Advanced Open Water. If you want to build confidence and safety skills, Rescue Diver is a great choice.

Do I need any experience to take the Open Water course?

No experience is required. We will teach you everything step by step, starting with theory and skills practice before open water dives.

How long do the courses take?

Most courses run over several days depending on the certification. Open Water typically takes 3 days. Advanced Open Water and Rescue courses also generally run over 3 days.

What is included in the course price?

Most courses include training sessions, open water dives, certification fees, and rental equipment. If anything is not included, it will be clearly stated on the course page.

Do I need my own equipment?

No. Rental equipment is included for most courses. If you have your own mask, snorkel, or fins you are welcome to use them.

Is there a minimum age to take a course?

Minimum age depends on the certification level. Beginner certifications typically start from ages 10 to 12, while Divemaster requires a minimum age of 18.

Do I need a medical certificate to dive?

Some students may need a medical questionnaire or a medical certificate depending on health history and the course level. We will confirm what is required during booking.

How many people are in each course group?

We keep groups small for safety and better learning. Group sizes may vary depending on the course and conditions.

Can I take a course if I have not dived in a long time?

Yes. If it has been a long time since your last dive, we may recommend a refresher session before advanced training to make sure you feel comfortable and safe.

What language are the courses taught in?

Courses can be taught in English, and other languages may be available depending on instructor availability. Let us know your preference when you book.

When is the best time of year to take a course in Playa del Carmen?
